How vaccine work
How vaccine work
Vaccine prepare the immune system, getting ready to fight the disease causing organism called pathogen
To understand how vaccine work we must first understand how our immune response respond to invading pathogen. When a new pathogen enter the body it meet with the body first line of defence the innate division of the body system
Innate response is immediate but non specific, fever is one of the sign that the body is figting the disease at this stage
If this fails to stop an infection the adaptive immune system may come to play, this is more effective but it may take may days to activate during which time the person is being sick
Adaptive response produce what is so called antibody which specifically bend to a component on a surface of the pathogen labeling it for destruction this componeht is called an antigen ant its the one that has triggered the production of antibody against it.
The adaptive response leave the body with a memory of a pathogen so it can react faster the next time the same pathogen attack
In fact pathogen specific antibody are produce real fast upon re exposure to the pathogen that no sign of illness are visible (this is called immunity)
It explain why people get disease such as chicken poz only once, even though they might be exposed several time in lifetime
Vaccine
Is altered form of a pathogen or part of it that act like an antigen, it is introduced to the body totrigger the production of antibody , mimicking first infection but without causing the illness
Immune system now has antibodies and ready for the response if it exposed to the real pathogen
